Marc Shiliro's Classic Cars
You're looking at another beautiful classic car listed by MS CLASSIC CARS!
1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS 396/375HP "L-78" Legend - "One of the best"
Hello, I’m Marc Schiliro the owner of MS CLASSIC CARS.  You might recognize my name or my business name from the beautiful classic cars, trucks and motorcycles I’ve collected and sold nationally.  I’ve got over 25 years of classic vehicle experience and continue to learn more every day. I’ve learned a lot and I’m educated in many different makes and models ranging from the early 1900’s to current. I specialize in beautiful classic vehicles that are at a higher level of quality than most being advertised for sale. I only collect number one and number two condition vehicles that are already completed. We slightly redesign them, service them and detail them. I have also coordinated restorations from start to finish but don’t do this anymore. Over the years I’ve collected and sold over 600 classic vehicles which can be seen on the company website sold page. The vehicles are sold to previous customers, referrals and are sold from advertising on various websites, online auctions and live auctions. MS CLASSIC CARS has set over 50 world record prices on various makes and models that I’m very proud of.  We’ve featured many classic vehicles at different auctions across the United States. We’ve had many vehicles that have been featured in multiple magazines and multiple websites. Please note, I’m not bragging, I’m just confident. I consider myself to be an expert in the classic car business and would like to put my experience to work for you.

The MS CLASSIC CARS showroom is located in Seekonk, Massachusetts. This location was established in 2012. The MS CLASSIC CARS service department and multiple storage facilities are also located in Seekonk, Massachusetts.  The MS CLASSIC CARS operations are closed to the public.  A private viewing of a vehicle can be made scheduled by appointment Monday through Friday.  The MS CLASSIC CARS inventory consists of roughly 50 classic cars and trucks that we own, service and detail.  We’re the only dealership in the country that services every vehicle we sell and documents it with an invoice. I stand behind every vehicle we sell.  Each vehicle is presented with a detailed description, 150+ high quality photos and a video.  We don’t offer consignments.  When you call you deal directly with me. I know each vehicle well and will go over the vehicle of your interest in full detail.  I’ll also assist you with any other needs such as trades, financing, insurance or enclosed shipping.  I promise to make the process from start to finish easy and enjoyable.  I take a lot of pride in this business and our reputation reflects that.  I appreciate the opportunity to earn your business.  “MS CLASSIC CARS isn’t just another dealer.  MS CLASSIC CARS is a brand.”

Sincerely,
Marc Schiliro – The owner

I've been collecting classic cars and trucks for over 25 years now and have seen a lot happen. I've seen the hobby continue to grow not only on the internet and auctions but also with the amount of television shows, magazines and websites that are related to classic cars in some form or another. I strongly believe the classic car market is a great place to invest in. When the economy is strong, the classic car market is extremely strong. When the economy isn't so strong the classic car market holds its own. I've sold classic cars and trucks in both economic conditions. The reason classic cars make such a great investment is because people are crazy about cars, especially classic cars.  These people aren’t just one age group but all different ages ranging from very young to very old.  It’s a very diverse market.  I've learned it's not just people in the United States but its people all over the world.

Over the years I've noticed that the higher quality classic cars have always commanded a higher price. Even people who don't have any classic car experience can recognize and appreciate attention to detail. Over the last 20 years the overall market has been very strong and I believe it will continue to grow.  Certain classic cars prices are on the rise and others are on the decline.  It’s all about supply and demand, not about a good or bad economy.  The classic cars that are on the rise are the cars that a lot of people want but there aren’t many on the market for sale.  The classic cars that are on the decline are the cars that a lot of people don’t want anymore and there’s many on the market for sale. Of course, if the car is a rare model and spectacular it will command a higher price as I mentioned. Desirable factory correct classic cars that are documented with matching numbers always make solid investments.  Custom cars have remained strong because each car is different from the next one. They each have their own character and there worth what people are willing to pay.

Prior to this business I was just a blue collar guy who was working full time at Viti Mercedes Benz located in Tiverton, RI. They’re recognized for being one of the best Mercedes Benz dealerships in the country for customer service.  I was very passionate about classic cars and trucks so I decided to sell them part time.  Although I had my used car dealer’s license I didn’t have my own dealership.  Overall things were going just fine but my dream was to open my own classic car and truck dealership.  I decided to give up my full time job with health insurance and a 401K to open a new classic and truck dealership.  I had to invest a ton of money to make that happen which required using my family’s savings and acquiring loans such as a home equity line of credit.  I also took on a lot of overhead that I didn’t have before.  The bottom line is I went all in.  Do you think I would’ve done all that if I didn’t think the classic car and truck market wasn’t going to remain strong?  “I’m putting my money where my mouth is”. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Marc Schiliro – The Owner

This car has documented ownership history from day one including a letter from the original owner to Ken Lucas. This car retains the original VIN tag and Trim tag. This car has all of its original sheet metal with exception of GM quarters. This car sports its original color combination of British Green and Black. This car is powered by its original matching numbers 396/375HP L-78 V8 engine, original matching numbers Muncie 4-speed manual transmission and original matching numbers 12-bolt POSI rear end with 3.55 gears. This car is the real deal and the true definition of a matching numbers car. This is a great opportunity to purchase on the best 68 Camaro “L-78” models on the planet.

As the original VIN number indicates this car was manufactured on the 5th week of May at the Norwood plant as a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro V8 Hardtop. As the original Trim tag indicates this car was built with a British Green exterior with a black standard interior. It was ordered with the following options: SS Equipment 375HP V8, 4-speed transmission, positract axle 355r, power brakes and tinted glass. The car was sold new by Ourisman Chevrolet Company located in Marlowe Heights, MD on June 3rd, 1968. The first assignment was to Edward A. Dettoree on June 7th, 1968. Edward lived in Lanham, MD. He traded in the car to Lustine Chevrolet in November of 1971. Over the years it exchanged ownership six times to people in Maryland and Virginia. A complete list of ownership history is documented along copies of titles by the DMV that are included.  It was eventually sold to Ken Lucas on September 2nd, 1992. Ken lives in Phoenix, MD. Ken started the restoration around 1993 and completed it around 1994. Ken did a very correct restoration of a very authentic car. Many of the parts are even date code correct. Ken invested countless hours in this labor of love.  Ken was very friendly with Camaro expert Jerry MacNeish of Camaro HI-Performance who also lives in Maryland. Jerry assisted Ken in the restoration with his technical expertise, dedication and encouragement. A photo of Jerry MacNeish and Don Myers installing the engine in this car is pictured in the photo gallery. Ken also made mention of all the other people that assisted him in the restoration which is on one of the show board’s that is included.  Ken reached out to the original owner Edward A. Dettorre and on November 13th, 1995 he responded to Ken with a letter that is included. Once the restoration was completed Ken started showing the car at major events. It became a very well-known car as it started racking up awards. This car is one of only a few 1968 Chevrolet Camaros to receive the American Camaro Association “Legend” Official Concours Certification. Over a three year period it achieved level one “Junior”, level two “Senior” and level three “Preservation”. This is the highest level in Camaro judging at the national level.  At the same time Ken also became well-known which led to him opening a restoration business in 2003. The name of his business is Lucas Restorations which was located in Phoenix, MD. He worked with long-time friend Don Myers. Lucas Restorations specialized in 1967-1969 Chevrolet Camaros. Over the years Lucas Restorations has restored some of the finest first generation Camaros known to exist.  MS CLASSIC CARS owned a spectacular 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS Z28 “Legend” that was restored by Lucas Restoration as an example. Ken decided to retire at 73 years old and closed Lucas Restoration. However, the website is still up so it can be viewed. Of course, this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS 396/375HP L-78 is the highlight of the site. Ken decided to sell his prized possession in 2018 after 26 years of ownership. He sold his car to a gentleman in Massachusetts who has owns a beautiful collection of cars and miscellaneous items.  MS CLASSIC CARS has sold this gentleman many cars and miscellaneous items over the years. This gentleman has actually become a friend of Marc Schiliro the owner of MS CLASSIC CARS. In 2020, he decided to sell some of his cars and MS CLASSIC CARS purchased a few including this car. This car has never really been advertised for sale in almost 30 years!

The exterior of this car is in excellent condition throughout. It truly looks like it was restored recently. The color combination is stunning in every sense of the word. The car retains all of its original sheet metal with exception of the rear quarters. Ken replaced the rear quarters with new GM rear quarters that were still available in the early 1990’s. The body is very straight and it has great gap lines throughout. The special louvered super sport hood, doors and trunk lid close very nicely. The car was finished in its original color of British Green which is complemented with a white stripe. The paint work is high show quality and was detailed to a brilliant shine by MS CLASSIC CARS. The original paint cans are included. All of the tinted glass is date coded and in beautiful condition. A list of the dates for each piece of glass is included. The windows roll up and down so smoothly. The window trim was restored and still looks really nice. Everything on this car was restored or replaced such as the wipers, hood scoops, black front grille, headlights, front bumper, date coded side view mirror, door handles, lower molding, emblems, blacked-out rear tail lamp panel and gas cap. The car sits on the correct style steel 14x6 wheels that were painted the body color and dressed with chrome hub caps. The wheels are wrapped with new Firestone Super Sport Redline F70-14 tires that were added by MS CLASSIC CARS.

The interior of this car is also in excellent condition throughout. It truly looks like it was restored recently. It was restored in its original color of black. It’s a very simple interior with no thrills like a radio or console. It reeks of originality with original and correct trim pieces. The dash pad and door panels are GM original but not original to this car. The headliner, dash, gauges, knobs, steering wheel, door hardware, seats, seat belts, Hurst shifter and carpeting is in are in great condition. It the correct style rubber floor mats. Everything in the interior is in working order such as interior lights, headlights, turn signals, horn, gauges, heating system, etc. The trunk compartment was fully restored and finished in the correct trunk splatter paint. The correct stickers were placed on the backside of the trunk lid. It’s equipped with a full spare and tools.

The engine compartment is highly detailed with many correct parts throughout. This engine compartment looks exactly how it did back in 1968. The parts are not only correct but their date code correct such as the distributor, starter, horn replay, alternator, etc. Everything in the engine compartment was restored or replaced. The car is powered by the original matching numbers 396/375HP “L-78” V8. The engine, cylinder heads, intake manifold and water pump are all date code correct. This engine was rebuilt by Camaro expert Jerry MacNeish of Camaro HI-Performance. Some of the engine information includes: 396 cubic inch displacement with 4.094 inch bore and 3.760 inch stroke, 375 horse power at 5600 RPM and 415 ft./lbs. Torque at 3600 RPM, Holley 800 C.F.M. dual feed vacuum secondary 4-bbl carburetor, aluminum “high rise” intake manifold, mechanical lifter cam (5.19 inch lift 316 degree duration, rectangular large-port cast-iron heads with 2.190 inch intake and 1.840 inch exhaust valves, 11:1 compression ratio, forged TRW domed pistons, forged 1018 alloy steel tuftrided cross drilled internally balanced crankshaft, 4-bolt main, deep grove engine pulleys and chromed valve covers and air cleaner lid. The engine is cooled by a heavy duty radiator with seven blade fan. The engine breathes through date code correct exhaust manifolds and a correct dual exhaust system. This engine sounds super!

The engine is coupled to the original matching numbers Muncie (M21) 4-speed transmission. All the numbers on the transmission are date code correct. The power is transferred to the original matching numbers 12-bolt POSI rear end with 3.55 gears. As stated in Jerry MacNeish’s report, “Beautiful example of an original numbers 396-375 HP Camaro. This car has been restored to new original condition. All drive-train numbers have been certified and authenticated.” The engine, transmission and rear end are in great working order.

The undercarriage is also highly detailed with many correct parts throughout. This undercarriage should be displayed with mirrors at a car show to highlight the correct attention to detail. It was finished in the correct shade of black. All of the parts were painted the correct colors. It has all the correct factory paint marks and tags. The fuel lines, fuel tank, steering components, heavy duty suspension and power drum brakes have all been restored or replaced. Everything is in great working order. This car drives and handles very nicely on the road.

**PLEASE CALL MS CLASSIC CARS OWNER MARC SCHILIRO FOR A VERY ACCURATE VERBAL DESCRIPTION OF THIS VEHICLE**

***MS CLASSIC CARS only purchases number one and number two condition classic vehicles. We service and detail every vehicle unlike most classic vehicles that are currently being advertised for sale. MS CLASSIC CARS invested a total of $5,397.67 servicing and detailing this vehicle. This is documented with an invoice pictured below. We’re the only classic car dealership in the country that does this.  Please understand every vehicle needs something.  Some vehicles just need a lot more than others.  At MS CLASSIC CARS we eliminate the surprises.  We’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking. ***

Your challenge
I have over 25 years of experience and follow the classic vehicle market on a daily basis.  I’m experienced with most years, makes and models.  Obviously I’m more experienced with certain vehicles but follow them all.  I price my classic vehicles competitive based on the current market values.  I would challenge anyone to find a comparable vehicle for less.  Please make sure your comparing the vehicles history, recent documented service work, all options and the entire vehicles overall condition from top to bottom.  If you’re truly interested in purchasing this vehicle and you have a comparable vehicle that’s priced less please call me to discuss further.  I’m confident that my vehicle will be the better choice.  If I’m wrong I’ll tell you the other vehicle is a better choice and point you in that direction.

As my website indicates I’ve collected and sold hundreds of beautiful classic vehicles over the years.  I’m proud to say MS CLASSIC CARS holds over 50 world record sale prices.  We’ve also sold many classic vehicles in the six figure plus price range.  The point being is that I’m a good judge of character when it comes time to describe a classic vehicle.  MS CLASSIC CARS collect beautiful classic vehicles that we service and detail.  We document this work with an invoice that is pictured in the photos.  The vehicle you’re about to witness is something I’m proud of.  If you’ve been searching for something like this vehicle I would suggest moving forward with investigating it further.  Please give me a phone call and I’ll go over the entire vehicle with you over the phone.  I will tell you everything I know about it.  I’m the owner and can make all the decisions regarding the price, etc.  There will be no pressure.   My goal is to make sure the vehicle is the right fit for you.  If you decide to purchase it I’ll make the transaction transparent and simple.  I’ll assist you in the financing if necessary.  I’ll also assist you with the shipping.  It’s that easy.  MS CLASSIC CARS isn’t just another dealer.  MS CLASSIC CARS is a brand.”

Marc Schiliro – The Owner.

Unfortunately most classic vehicles that are being advertised for sale by dealers, private parties and auctions aren't exactly what are being advertised for sale.  This is an industry with no real guidelines and everyone's opinion is completely different.  The average consumer doesn’t realize classic vehicles weren’t restored at the factory and are being restored by people in their garages.  Everyone’s level of restoration experience is different and it shows in the restoration.  An example would be a classic vehicle that's  being advertised as an original model with matching numbers could be a phony with a reproduction trim tag and re stamped numbers on the engine block, etc.  Another example would be a classic vehicle is being advertised as a full restoration when indeed only a few things have been restored.  There are many classic vehicles listed for sale that have cosmetic and mechanical issues with such items as the body, paint, glass, lights, body hinges, gauges, window components, steering components, upholstery, engine leaks and tuning, radiators, transmission, rear end, brake components and suspension components.  The consumers are spending thousands of dollars repairing the classic vehicles they've purchased after the sale.  A bad purchase could turn into the buyer’s worst nightmare and be extremely costly!

MS CLASSIC CARS specializes in beautiful classic cars and trucks that are at a higher level of quality than most being advertised for sale. I personally have selected these vehicles and take pride in what I represent.  I'm not a classic car dealer who is only looking to make a quick buck.  I’ve seen dealers and private parties purchase classic vehicles at auctions and online and immediately list them for sale.  Most of these vehicles aren’t being advertised correctly and haven’t been serviced or detailed.  This business is my career and my reputation which means everything to me.  I do the best of my ability to represent quality classic cars and advertise them honestly.  To be clear I’m not in the restoration business.  I represent classic vehicles that have already been restored that we’ve serviced and detailed.

This vehicle is owned by MS CLASSIC CARS and is located in Seekonk, MA.  I personally have seen, touched and driven this vehicle.  This vehicle has been through a service and detail process which is documented with an MS CLASSIC CARS invoice. I'll personally go over the entire vehicle and tell you everything I know about it.  I'll also give you my opinion if it’s truly the right vehicle for you. I’ll consider all trades and also offer financing if necessary.  Once you've committed to purchase a classic vehicle from MS CLASSIC CARS, I’ll make it a very easy process from start to finish.  Once the funds have cleared I'll immediately mail the paperwork USPS 2-day air with tracking number. I’ll also assist in shipping your vehicle to its new home with an enclosed carrier. Once the vehicle is loaded inside the enclosed trailer we’ll cover it with a new plastic cover and email you photos.

If you've read the introduction tab or visited my website you’ll probably agree I'm a bit of a perfectionist and represent very detailed classic vehicles. MS CLASSIC CARS has a great reputation and we continue to raise the bar in the classic car and truck world.  I sell our classic cars and trucks very quickly because consumers see the value.  I look forward to working with you.  Please read the company website testimonials and read our reviews online. Please also ask someone who knows about MS CLASSIC CARS.  Thank you for the opportunity!

Sincerely,
Marc Schiliro – the owner

I do the best I can to represent my classic cars and trucks.  My results, feedback and reputation speak for themselves. Everyone’s opinion of a classic car and truck is different and I encourage questions prior to a purchase. I have a beautiful showroom with excellent lighting and a lift for a complete inspection if requested. Inspections will be scheduled by appointment only.  The closest airport is Providence, RI.  It’s only a 25 minute ride from the dealership.  I can arrange to pick up at the airport.  I also have a dealer plate that would allow for a test drive with a valid driver’s license for a serious buyer.  Please call 508-557-0152 or email for any questions.  Thank you.
