This stunning 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 is a great example of an authentic and show quality American Muscle Car. This car has been certified by Camaro expert Jerry MacNeish. It retains its original VIN Tag, original VIN stamping on cowl, original Trim Tag, original sheet metal, original exterior color, original interior color, original engine and original rear end. The 1969 Camaro Z28 is one of the most popular high performance cars of the 1960's and only 20,302 were produced making this model very collectable. As the NCRS Shipping Data Report indicates the GM official production date was September 16th, 1969. From the information gathered it was built with the following options: (52-B) – Garnet Red with black stripes, (711)- black standard interior, (C08)- vinyl roof cover, (D55)- console, (D80)- spoiler equipment, (G80)- positraction, 3.73, (J52) – disc brakes, (M21)- 4-speed transmission, (N34) – wood steering wheel, (U17)– special instrumentation, (ZL2) – style trim group, (Z28) – special engine and equipment package, and (ZL2)- special deducted hood. The original delivery dealer was Penske-McKean Chevrolet Inc. located in Philadelphia, PA. As the original documents indicate it remained in Pennsylvania for 53 years until December of 2022. Original service receipts dating back to 1976 are included. Original photos, registrations and photos are also included. The car was purchased from Davis Hance on September 14th, 2016 by John W. Ammons which is documented with two copies of titles that are included. John is a known enthusiast in the collector car community who owns high quality vehicles. John immediately started planning a meticulous restoration that would be completed to show quality standards. He connected with friend Eric Mann to assist in the restoration. Eric is known in the collector car community for doing excellent restoration services. John's vision was to restore the car as accurately as possible. He had as many original parts restored as possible. He also spent countless hours locating original parts. Restoration receipts and hand written notes are included. He also documented the entire restoration with photos that are in three hardcover books which are also included. The car was completed in late 2018 and inspected by Camaro expert Jerry Macneish of Camaro Hi-Performance on January 3rd of 2019. The report and Certificate of Authenticity is included. John decided to sell his pride and joy in late 2022. With the recommendation from Marc Schiliro, it was purchased on December 27th, 2022 by Mike Gamble who lived in Humble, Texas. Mike wanted to improve the car and corrected most of the component issues on Jerry MacNeish's report. Upon completion, Mike trailered the car to the Camaro Nationals. It was entered into the American Camaro Association Bow Tie Class where it achieved a Silver Award earning 939 points. Unfortunately, Mike passed and his son contacted MS CLASSIC CARS owner about purchasing the car. MS CLASSIC CARS purchased the car in January of 2025 and invested $22,230.42 in service which is documented with an invoice that's included. May of 2025 is the first time it's been listed for sale. A new binder with everything mentioned and an owner's manual is included.
The exterior of this '69 Z28 is absolutely beautiful with its iconic factory design and striking color combination. As documented, the entire body was place on a rotisserie and stripped to bare metal. The car retains all of its original sheet metal including the cowl induction hood and rear spoiler. During this process only small patch panels had to be done on a few various locations such as behind the rear window and bottom of the quarter panels. The body is very straight and it has excellent gap lines throughout. It was refinished in its original color of Garnet Red with black stripes. This is a very desirable color and looks awesome. The show quality paint was recently detailed to a brilliant shine. The passenger fender is a slightly different shade which is visible in certain lighting. It's nothing any owner thought was an issue worth addressing including MS CLASSIC CARS. It was outfitted with a new black vinyl top which complements the exterior color perfectly. It was also outfitted with all new date coded stamped glass throughout that was supplied from Auto City Classic. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced new such as the stainless trim, drip rail moldings, antenna, wiper arms, mirror, grille, headlights, front bumper, fender trim, door handles, lower rocker moldings, rear quarter louvers, tail light bezels and lenses, rear bumper and emblems. The car rolls on the correct YH stamped 15” Rally wheels with chrome trim rings and center caps. The wheels have been mounted to new Goodyear Wide Tread E70-15 white raised letter tires that were replaced by MS CLASSIC CARS.
The interior of this '69 Z28 is also beautiful with its sporty factory design and wood trimmed appointments. It was restored in its original color black which looks excellent throughout. Legendary Auto Interiors supplied a lot of the replacement interior such as the headliner, front and rear seat covers. It still retains the original door panels which are in excellent condition. The three-spoke wood steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer and an analog clock. Auxiliary gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure and battery amperage are stacked in two tiers on the center console ahead of the shifter. Everything in the interior was restored or replaced new such as the door sill plates, dome light, dash pad, gauges, heating control panel, vents, knobs, steering column, door hardware, rear package tray, pedals and carpeting. It was outfitted with a modern Antique Automobile AM/FM/Bluetooth radio and correct style rubber floor mats. The original trunk compartment was restored and refinished in the correct style trunk splatter paint. It's equipped with a spare tire and jack tools.
The engine compartment of this '69 Z28 is highly detailed throughout with many correct parts. The hidden original VIN stamping in cowl area is authentic, visible and untouched. The original Muncie speedometer hole is stamped out below the windshield wiper motor on the firewall. The firewall, inner fenders and radiator support was refinished in the correct shade of black. The car is powered by the original matching numbers DZ302 V8. The original engine frames mounts numbers are stamped #3945507 and #3945507. The engine has a #V0829DZ assembly stamping, 010 casting, dated H269 and VIN stamp on oil filter. The engine was completely rebuilt which included a hydraulic cam for reliability. The engine was dyno tested with 338hp and 273 ft-lbs of torque. Receipts of the engine rebuild and dyno sheet are included. The engine is fed through the correct #4053 Holley carburetor dated 981. The engine is equipped with the original deep-groove pulleys. Everything in the bay has been restored or replaced new such as the wiring, wiper motor, smog system, #9204 brake booster dated 199th day of 1969, #1100837 alternator dated 9H6 and correct radiator tank coded CB dated F for 1969. The engine breathes through the correct exhaust manifolds and Gardner Exhaust System. This is a concours correct exhaust with turbo mufflers, resonator system and chrome tail pipes. The engine is coupled to a service replacement Muncie 4-speed M21 manual transmission with #660 case casting. The transmission was completely rebuilt and the clutch was replaced new by MS CLASSIC CARS. The power is transferred to the original 12-bolt POSI rear end with CBU assembly date, casting date I29, #341NF casting and 3.73 gears. The rear end was completely rebuilt by MS CLASSIC CARS.
The undercarriage of this '69 Z28 is also highly detailed throughout with many correct parts. It retains the original tail pipe adapter plate on the rear left side frame rail with factory spot welds. The original floors were refinished in the correct primer and body overspray colors. To be clear, this undercarriage should be displayed at car shows with mirrors. Everything underneath was restored or replaced new including the power steering system, suspension components and braking system.
