“Reunited with an old love” - this car and I have some history together and somehow we found each another once again 14 years later. I purchased this special car in 2011 from a gentleman named Albert Motta who was the caretaker for 18 years. It was love at first sight for me. At the time I purchased the car I just opened MS CLASSIC CARS which was located in Fall River, MA. This car carried stock #13 which indicates it was the thirteenth vehicle in my inventory. I admired the car so much it was stored in my garage at my house that I still live in today. I listed the car for sale on Hemmings Motor News and it sold very quickly. It was purchased on November 11th, 2011 by Scott Holley who lives in Indiana. After the sale, I moved on and lost track of the car over time. Fast forward to November of 2025, my service manager Michael Marsella found a beautiful 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 that was certified by expert Jerry MacNeish advertised for sale on Hemmings Motor News. I emailed the gentleman who had it listed for sale and when he called me he said, “Marc, you don't know who I am do you?” I said, “No, I don't and apologized”. He then said, “I purchased the 1960 Jaguar MK IX Saloon from you in 2011 almost 15 years go. I've been following you and your company for all these years.” It was such a special moment for the both of us. Scott explained that after five years of ownership with the 1960 Jaguar Mk IX Saloon he decided to restore the car and invested $135,000.00 which is documented with receipts. The restoration was completed in 2016 and was shown at many car shows including the Keeneland Concours d' Elegance. Of course, I asked Scott if he'd ever sell the car and he said, “It's never been listed for sale but I would consider selling the car back to you”. Long story short, I ended up purchasing four beautiful cars from Scott's amazing collection which includes the 1960 Jaguar Mk IX Saloon, 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28, 1969 Jaguar E-Type Convertible and 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302. I'm so proud to own all of these four cars especially the 1960 Jaguar Mk IX Saloon. This car retains original documentation, the original color combination and the original drivetrain. It's one of the sexist cars I've ever owned.” - Marc Schiliro
This absolutely gorgeous 1960 Jaguar Mark IX Saloon has been restored to show quality standards and is total eye candy. The Jaguar Mk IX is a luxury four-door sedan that was produced in Coventry, England from 1958 to 1961 totaling 10,009 units. Key features included a powerful 3.8L inline 6-cylinder engine, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering and a top speed of approximately 115 mph. It was offered with a 4-speed manual transmission and an optional 3-speed automatic transmission. As the Jaguar Heritage Certificate #33291 indicates this example was built on December 2nd, 1959. As the original Purchase and Sales Agreement indicates it was sold on February 26th, 1960 to Dr. Houston Pratt who lived in Glen Cove, NY. The purchase price was $6,112.50 and as indicated, Dr. Houston Pratt traded a 1953 Austin-Martin Coupe that was valued at $2,812.50 leaving a $3,300.00 balance. The car is accompanied with the original Guarantee, Service Voucher, Jaguar Dealers List, Service Centers, Owner's ID Card and Owner's Manual. It's also accompanied with an original repair invoice, registration from 1969, Estate Transfer Certificate from 1975 and Sales Tax Payment Receipt from 1978. The car was sold to the second owner in 1978 who was the caretaker for the next 18 years. As indicated with a copy of a Michigan title, it was sold to the third owner Albert Motta on July 15th, 1996 who was also the caretaker for the next 15 years. It was sold to MS CLASSIC CARS on October 18th, 2011 who operated with a dealer's license so they're not considered an owner. As indicated with a Bill of Sale and Odometer Statement, MS CLASSIC CARS sold the car to the third owner Scott Holly on November 11th, 2011 who was the caretaker for the next 14 years. After five years of ownership with the 1960 Jaguar Mk IX Saloon Scott decided to restore the car and invested $135,000.00 which is documented with receipts. The restoration was completed in 2016 and was shown at many car shows including the Keeneland Concours d' Elegance. This is a documented four owner vehicle. It was sold back to MS CLASSIC CARS on November 7th, 2025 and this is the first time it's been listed for sale.
The exterior of this car is simply stunning with its stylish factory design and beautiful color combination. The exterior condition is reflective of a #1 condition concours vehicle. During the restoration process the body was stripped to bare metal. It retains all the original sheet metal with exception to the lower sections of the front fenders, rocker panels and quarters which were repaired. The body is laser straight with excellent gap lines throughout. The hood, doors and trunk operate very nicely. The body was refinished in its original color of Cotswold Blue which dresses it well. The lower section of the body was refinished in a lighter shade of blue to highlight the bodylines. It's equipped with a manually operated sunroof that's operational. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced new such as all of the glass, stainless trim, wiper arms and blades, antenna, fender-mounted mirrors, hood trim, light bezels, Lucas headlights and driving lights, front grill, front bumper, upper and lower body moldings, door handles, license plate trim, Lucas taillights, rear bumper and emblems. It's equipped with two gas fillers on both rear quarters so it can be fueled from either side. The car rolls on 16” painted steel wheels that are decorated with chrome trim rings and center caps with Jaguar logo. The wheels are mounted to Firestone Deluxe Champion 6.50 -16 whitewall tires.
The interior of this car is very luxurious with great attention to detail throughout. It was refinished in its original color of Red which contrasts very nicely with the exterior shade of Blue. During the restoration process the interior was removed and completely gone through including the wiring. The four-spoke black steering wheel fronts a walnut veneer dashboard with centrally mounted Smiths instrumentation. It's equipped with a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock as well as a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges for amperage, coolant temperature, oil pressure and fuel level. The dashboard has gloveboxes on both sides for the driver and passenger. The walnut wood trims the pillars, headliner, sun visors, sunroof and tops of door panels. The door panels and seating surfaces were reupholstered in red genuine leather which is soft. The front bench seat has a center folding armrest. The rear seating area has walnut wood trim, picnic trays and center storage compartment. The rear passenger side is decorated with a vase and currently has a rose in it. The flooring was covered with plush red carpeting throughout. It's been outfitted with matching molded carpeted floor mats throughout. The spacious trunk compartment was refinished with new tan material throughout. It's equipped with a matching full spare wheel, jack and tools.
The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout. During the restoration process everything was removed from the engine bay including the engine itself. The firewall, inner fenders and radiator support were stripped, prepped and repainted. Everything in the engine bay was restored or replaced. The car is powered by the original matching number 3.8L DOHC Inline 6-clyinder engine with two SU carburetors. The engine was factory rated at 220 horsepower and 237 lb-ft of torque. The engine was rebuilt previously by the third owner and runs excellent. The engine breathes through factory manifolds and a stainless steel exhaust system. The engine is coupled to a 3-speed Borg Warner automatic transmission which was also rebuilt by the third owner. Two new batteries were installed in November of 2025.
The undercarriage is very clean throughout. The underneath was undercoated for durability. Everything was gone through new during the restoration process such as the power steering system, fuel system, suspension system and braking system. The suspension consists of a torsion bar independent front suspension and leaf-spring rear live axle. The braking system consists of four-wheel disc brakes with a servo-assist system. It's also equipped with “Hill Holder” which is a feature on automatic models that prevented the car from rolling backward on an incline.
