1932 Wayne Model 40 Shell Double-Sided Gas Pump
“Check out this amazing piece of Automobilia! This seldom seen 1930's Wayne Model 40 Shell Double-Sided Gas Pump is stylish, colorful and show quality. It's one of my favorite gas pumps ever offered from the MS CLASSIC CARS Collection. It's hard to believe this is almost 100 years old. With that being said, it's listed with a price and will not be offered on an auction platform. If you're looking for a special vintage gas pump for your house, garage or building this is the one!” – Marc Schiliro
This amazing 1930's Wayne Model 40 Shell Double-Sided Gas Pump has been restored to high show quality standards. This is one of the nicest vintage gas pumps ever offered from the MS CLASSIC CARS Collection. Founded in 1891 by former Bowser Pump Company employees, the Wayne Oil Tank Company became a premier manufacturer of fuel dispensers, introducing their first gasoline pump in 1907. Wayne pioneered key industry technology, including the 1918 “visible” pump with a glass cylinder, the first computing register in 1934 and early mechanical blending pumps. The Wayne Model 40 gas pump was introduced around 1932 and from the information gathered it was produced until the mid-1930s. It is a highly sought-after, heavy-duty vintage pump from the Wayne Company in Fort Wayne, Indiana. It is recognized by its distinct ornate face bezel, light shade and early 8-inch Veeder-Root computer. This example was the product of a high show quality restoration. The Wayne Model 40 is considered increasingly difficult to find making them desirable for collectors. This is a must have piece of Automobilia for any collection! February of 2026 is the first time we've listed it for sale.
This is a heavy gas pump with sturdy cabinet construction. During the restoration process the gas pump body was stripped and prepped to be very straight throughout with no dings or dents. It was refinished with automotive paint in the Shell colors of yellow and red. The body is yellow with red on all the edges, light shade, face bezel frame and cylinder. The show quality paint was recently detailed to a brilliant shine by the team at MS CLASSIC CARS. The cast stair-step style top supports an operational Shell Milk Glass Globe. The words Gas and Cents are on the fascia along with decorative artwork on the corners. The meter is in the center of the words. Internal bulbs illuminate the silver register faces and advertisement windows. New Placards describing the lead content are affixed on the sides of the body along with other miscellaneous new tags. It's equipped with a vintage Buckeye FIG 800 brass gasoline nozzle and Irpco Fuel Flo ¾” black rubber gasoline hose. Dimensions: 88” tall, 21” wide and 12.5” deep.
