Marc Schiliro's Classic Car Journey

Marc Schiliro's Classic Car Journey

I purchased my first classic car about 25 years ago. It was a 1965 Ford Mustang Coupe that was red with white interior. It had a 289 V8 and was a nice driver. I really enjoyed driving and showing the car. You could say, I was bitten by the classic car bug and was officially addicted. While attending a Mustang Club of New England car show I came across a beautiful 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback that was black with red interior. It also had a 289 V8 and was a high quality show car. The owner of the car told my father-in law and I that he would call us when he was ready to sell the car. I ended up calling him a few months later and he said, “I’d be willing to sell it for the right price”. We struck a deal pending I sold my car first. I advertised my car in Hemmings magazine and sold it within two days. I immediately purchased the fastback and enjoyed the car for a few years. In 2005, the movie "Gone in 60 Seconds" was released and I fell in love with the star of movie which was a 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback named “Eleanor”. A company in Texas named Unique Performance started building Eleanor replicas but I couldn't afford one. One day while surfing the internet I came across a company named Mustang Depot who was making an Eleanor kit for the 1965 and 1966 Mustangs. I was in all my glory when I read this. I got a home equity line of credit so I could afford to transform my 1965 Mustang into Eleanor. Unfortunately, the first body shop I took the car to never really did anything to the car but still charged me. At that time I was young and naïve. Fortunately, I hooked up with Jennings’s Auto Body in Fall River, MA and they completed the job at a very fair price. Once it was completed Mustang Depot documented it as the first 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback E2 (Eleanor) ever built. This car won many car shows. It was also featured in multiple magazines and on multiple websites. After I enjoyed it for a while I decided to sell the car so I posted it on eBay. It sold within a few hours of it being listed for sale. The car ended up going to a Mustang Museum in Mexico where it still is today. I used the proceeds from the sale to purchase more classic cars. At the time I didn't realize it but my classic car business started. As the years pasted I started collecting and selling many classic vehicles. I learned a lot about the classic car business including such things as the market on a variety of classic vehicles, restorations, transportation, paperwork, photography, marketing and auctions. My dream was to eventually open my own classic car dealership. With the support of my wife Jamie Schiliro, I invested many years of hard work and dedication. I stayed extremely focused on my chasing my dream and was determined on making it happen.

In June of 2012, my dream became reality. I left my full time sales position at Viti Mercedes Benz in Tiverton, RI and opened MS CLASSIC CARS in Seekonk, MA. I went all in to make this happen. I believed in myself and my plan. When I opened it was only me and my brother in law Jimmy Peckham. From the beginning, I built the business reputation on quality, presentation and customer satisfaction. I promised myself to only do it one way which was the right way. In August of 2015, I partnered with customer, friend and business entrepreneur Bryan Frank. I sold Bryan a 1970 Chevrolet SS 396 in 2007 and we’ve been friends ever since. He still owns the car today. Bryan owns a very large classic vehicle collection and shares the same passion I do about them. Bryan brings a lot the table with his business experience, car experience and financial strength.

I only collect number one and number two condition show quality vehicles. Once they arrive at the dealership I put them through a vigorous service and detail process which is documented with an invoice that is pictured in the listing. We're the only classic car dealership in the country that does this. I personally write the descriptions. We provide over 150 highly detailed photos and a video of each vehicle. I take a lot of pride in my collection and it shows. MS CLASSIC CARS currently employs eight full time employees and two part time employees. MS CLASSIC CARS currently operates out of five buildings. MS CLASSIC CARS has collected and sold over 800 classic vehicles over the years. These vehicles can be found on our website sold inventory page. MS CLASSIC CARS is one of the top sellers at the Barrett Jackson auction. We're also the top seller at the New England Auto Auction held at the Owls Head Transportation Museum. We're the top seller on Hemming's Auction and one of the top sellers on Bring-A-Trailer which are both online auctions. MS CLASSIC CARS has thousands of people on our VIP EMAIL BLAST. We're also followed by hundreds of thousands of people on social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and YouTube. MS CLASSIC CARS is a member of many automotive clubs and advertise with many different automotive companies. In September of 2020, MS CLASSIC CARS reconstructed our service facility and our service manager Michael Marsella joined the team. Mike is one of the best mechanics in the business and has been a friend for many years. Our service department is only being used to service the MS CLASSIC CARS inventory and is not open to the public. Having our own service department allows us to do what we do which is different than anyone else.

MS CLASSIC CARS has plans of expanding in the near future into a brand new modern facility so everything can be under one roof. This new modern facility will be much larger which will allow us to be more efficient and grow. We're not only going to offer sales but selective consignments, service, detail and storage to the public. I also have plans of doing a T.V. show in the future as well. The T.V show will not only be educational but will allow people to be behind the scenes with everything we do at MS CLASSIC CARS.

“MS CLASSIC CARS isn’t just another dealer. MS CLASSIC CARS is a brand”.

“Our goal isn’t to be biggest. Our goal is to the best”.

Sincerely,
