MS CLASSIC CARS is proud to present a beautiful 1939 Chevy Opera Custom Coupe!  Okay, just to start off so youre aware an Opera Coupe was different than a business coupe.  The Opera coupe had sliding rear windows, the gas cap in the right rear fender instead of right rear quarter and jump seats.  When searching the internet youll find the Opera coupes are harder to come across.

The car you're about to witness is simply stunning and one of the most beautiful and simply restored street rods Ive ever seen.  Every two weeks theres a huge car show located at the New England Patriots Stadium and thats where I stumbled across this car.  As soon as I laid eyes on this vehicle it was talking to me.

This build was completed by a local gentleman named Roderick Pete Phaneuf.  He is very meticulous and this was truly a labor of love!  Thousands of hours and dollars were invested in this beautiful piece of artwork.   Pete found this car in need of a restoration and had it shipped to Rhode Island.  Mostly all of the sheet metal is original including the floors.  The left rear fender, trunk floor and rear tail panel was replaced.  The headlights, bumper brackets and parking lights were slightly fabricated.  The hood has the original stainless moldings and opens with an Allen wrench. The body was smoothed to perfection and is extremely straight.  The gaps and window moldings are tight and everything opens and closes excellent.  It was painted a beautiful color named Currant Red.  The paint on this car is stunning and high quality.  Its free of any imperfections or swirls and has a mirror finish.  This paint job would cost somewhere around $10,000+ if you had it done.

The taillights are halogen from Julianos.  Its wrapped in year correct appearing American Torque Thrust wheels. The front wheels are 15 with Goodyear 195/65/15 tires.  The rear wheels are 16 with Goodyear 225/70/16 tires.  It has a killer stance!

The beautiful exterior is complimented with a completely custom cream leather interior with black accents that was done by Fred Carello.  This interior is very rich and is in like new condition.  The carpets have always been covered with a towel and never stepped on.  The front seats are from a 1994 Plymouth Shadow and the rear seats are from a 1999 Plymouth Acclaim.  It has a Dakota digital dash which is really great for reading gauges.  Other upgrades include a 1982 Buick tilt steering column, Billet Specialties steering wheel which I added, power windows, vintage air conditioning, custom sound system which the had unit is located in the glove box and the CD changer is under the drivers seat, trunk release button is also in the glove box, battery kill switch under passenger seat, custom trunk slot behind rear seat and black carpeted floor mats.   The car was insulated with dynomat insulation to keep outside noises out.  An addition LaCarra steering wheel is included with the sale.  The trunk compartment lid struts are from a 1989-1993 Mustang.  The trunk compartment is completely carpeted and houses the Optima Battery.  The brain for the Painless wiring kit is also located in the trunk.  Both of these items are behind the rear inside panel.

The highly detailed engine compartment houses the completely rebuilt fuel injected 350 V8.  This engine was out of a 1988 Camaro Z28 (L98).  It now has a roller cam.  Its cooled by a Griffin aluminum radiator with an electric fan.  The engine is coupled with a completely rebuilt turbo 350 automatic transmission and 1979 Chevy Nova rear end with superior axles and 2.73 gears.  The hood opens with a custom Allen wrench on both sides.

The highly detailed undercarriage is absolutely magnificent. This undercarriage is worthy of mirrors underneath at a car show!  The underside is painted the same color as the body.  The Polyethylene gas tank is 17 gallons. It has a Whit fuel pump in the tank.  Its equipped with a Mustang 2 front end with a Heidts cross member, Chassis Engineering front sway bar and Thunderbird power steering rack.  It also has Chassis Engineering rear springs. It has a Mustang 2 master cylinder and booster.  The front disc brakes are from an 80s Camaro.

As the description states and the photos indicate this is one beautiful street machine that draws serious attention.  If youre looking for a rare Opera coupe and want something that was built right this is the perfect vehicle for you.  I challenge you to search on the internet for any late 30s coupe and youll see finding one like this one isnt easy.  Its one of the nicest on the market especially in the price range its advertised for.  If I dont sell this coupe over the next month or so Im consigning it to the upcoming Barrett Jackson auto auction being held in Las Vegas September 26-28. Get it before someone else does!
