Project Nasty Ram

As my website indicates Ive been purchasing more classic pickup trucks.  Im really starting to appreciate classic trucks especially when they're over the top.  The 1936 Dodge Brothers pickup truck youre about to witness is truly a one-of-a-kind.  In all the years Ive been collecting classic cars and trucks Ive never seen a custom Dodge Brothers pickup truck. This truck was built by a long time Dodge mechanic and its truly amazing!  Everything is brand new.  The entire body has been completely fabricated from front to back.  It looks absolutely beautiful with its very sweeping body lines.  Everything just flows perfectly.  A complete list of all the exterior modifications is listed below by the gentleman who built the truck.

Some of the body modifications are the all steel hood that opens from the front with the Dodge Ram logo underneath, custom front grill, custom gas filler, custom bed cap and rear end lights with exhaust tip coming out the center.  The rear turn signals and lights are LED lights from a semi tractor trailer.  The word Dodge on rear tailgate lights up as well. The exterior was painted in 2003 Chrysler white and its been buffed to a show quality shine.  The black tinted windows give it a mean look.

The exterior is complimented with a completely custom interior.  The Dodge Ram theme was carried into the inside with the steering wheel, seats, door panels and shifter.  It has some cool interior features such as an outside air vent opener, overhead console and shifter console.  It has a choke, electric fan and fuel pump switch.

The engine compartment is really sweet.  It houses a completely rebuilt 1970 Mopar 340 that has been built to perform.  It has a purple camshaft, Wieland high rise intake and 2 four barrel Edelbrock carburetors.  Its coupled with a 1970 904 transmission with a 500 CFM Quick Silver manual shifter.  The power hits the pavement through a Mopar 8 ¾ rear end with 3.55 gears custom built by Moser in Indiana.  The custom exhaust system sounds like nothing Ive ever heard before.  It was very, very radical!  The huge center exhaust tip is sweet looking.

The entire frame was custom built and powder coated silver.  It has a Mustang 2 suspension system on the front with rack and pinion steering and a 4 length lateral suspension with coil overs in the rear.  The undercarriage is very detailed.  This truck is simply stunning and one of my favorites.  The owner is going to LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!

A Description from the gentleman who built the truck:

"Why I built a 1936 truck.
Back in the 1970's thru 1990's I was a farmer.
I traded a corn head from a combine back in the 1990's for this old dodge sedan that was sitting in a barn of a neighbor. I always wanted to fix up a street rod, so made the deal, and hauled it to my barn and kept it there to work on when it was raining, and I couldn't get in the fields. It was a one owner, and when the man's father died, he parked it in the barn, and left it , and finally agreed to get rid of it, since he needed a corn head, and didnt' have the money to buy one. IT took me 11 years to get it done, but not until I retired from farming.
I always was a dodge man. Was a dodge mechanic, a dodge service manager, sold dodges, and also raced dodges.
I finished the car in 2002 and went to many car shows and won awards at almost every show I went to. Even the biggest show around these parts that have over 3000 cars show up.
After I built the car, I thought it would be neat to have a 1936 truck to match.
I was building street rod frames for a speed shop while looking for a dodge brothers truck.
I built and designed 3 frames for a dodge pickup truck. I kept one and sold two. I built the farmes to be universal, because they are tubbed so you can put a dodge, ford or chevy on these frames.
I installed a mustang 2 front end on the frame, and a mustang rack and pinion, and hubs and rotors on front.
On the rear, I installed 4 length lateral suspension with coil over suspension,
The rear end housing is 8 3/4 MOPAR with 3:55 gears and axles
The housing was cut and narrowed at Mosers Machine Shop in Indiana.
I finally found an old 1936 dodge brothers pickup in storage in Cincinnati Ohio. I was just trying to find a cab. The cab and doors was the only thing good on this truck.
I bought it and chopped the top on the cab 2 inches. I wanted the truck to have a long nose front end, like the 1936 dodge sedan. I built the frame the same length as the 2 door sedan.
I installed the cab and fabricated the 6 ft. bed and tailgate; I shortened the rear 6 inches. I had to have a longer hood, so I rolled the steel hood, and assembled all parts after several tries, to get it perfect.
That's how I come to build the truck.
I knew I couldnt find one, so I fabricated it and built it myself.
The engine is a 1970-340 CU rebuilt, out of a Plymouth Duster
The Transmission is a 904 rebuilt out of the 1970 Duster.
I built the truck with the same engine, transmission, and rear end as was in my car
I installed the cab back 4 inches and when the fenders went on, I had to extend them 4 inches to get the long look.
When I fabricated the tailgate, I wanted something different, so I cut out the dodge letters and installed lights behind them, for my 3rd brake light. This took over 2 weeks working full time to accomplish this.
I did the entire interior myself, and wanted something on the door panels to make it stand out. That's when I came up with the idea of the Mopar star indentation on the door panels.
The truck originally had bumpers. Where the front bumper braces went thru the front fenders, is now where I molded the front parking lights to fit.
The rear turn signals and lights, are LED lights from a semi-tractor trailer, and fabricated into the lower rear panel under the tailgate.
The truck bed, I fabricated myself, and rolled it and welded it together.
The rear bed cover, I fabricated out of 1 inch square tubing, and fabricated the hinges and topped it off with 1/8 inch aluminum.
I also fabricated the tailgate with hidden hinges.
The drip edge on doors were originally "U" channel ones and were riveted to the cab. I removed those and welded 1/2 in steel rod for the drip edge and molded it in .
THE grille is custom built also, out of aluminum. I use to custom build grilles for a speed shop, for dodge, ford, Chevy and Plymouth.
These grilles are all drilled and tapped so you can adjust the width of spacing..
Finally after two years of hard labor, it was ready to sand, prime, sand, prime, sand, prime. Lots of sanding. It was then ready for the base coat clear coat. And Lots of buffing. I painted it 2003 PT Cruiser Stone White the same color I painted my 2 door sedan.
Every Car Show I attended I got a trophy, Including Best of show at many.
The huge car show, I mentioned before with over 3,000 entrants. I won Best Truck Overall at that show with the truck, and also Won Best Mopar with the 2 door sedan, of which I was very proud.
